Moral is low where I work, safety supervisor, yet latest person to quit and move on
The company I work for sub contracts for a larger company, some of you might can guess who that larger company is. But lately, they've withdrawn bonuses, they believe in 'smart drive', and scoring drivers, ect, and many veteran drivers or even newer ones, just don't want to be bothered with that BS.
People just don't want to be stressed out when at work, especially when not getting rich from said work. It's one thing if earning tremendous amount of money, but when just getting by, no one's gonna kiss the butt of any company, not in this post covid era.
Odd thing is, I was thinking about putting in my two weeks notice here soon myself, for a variety of reasons, reasons that just accumulate over the years.
Sometimes you just have to act, while still strong enough to, healthy enough to, and while can.
I told them in the past that I wanted to be safety person, but now, I'm just burned out on trucking, the higher ups just don't listen. I just don't think I want that type of stress in my life anymore.
Actually, I just want to move, I don't like the people who live around me, we just have totally different energy. Not sure how or why, no matter how much rent goes up, the slimy shady hood element still manages to work it's way in.
I think, know, it's do to the women who sign the leases, then their shady male friends slither their way in at night or move in. Either way, I'm just sick as hell of having to live around the street element.
I want to move to a place where there are no ghettos, no ghetto people, and whatever.

Trucking industry really fails to recognize old school drivers

I got to come home for a quick minute, do to a cancelled load. Today is going as awkward as I felt it would.
It's why when you get older, staying in good health is so very important, cause nothing gets easier, nothing, unless super wealthy, but if of the working class, labor class, as you age, nothing gets easier, if anything you become less relevant to others as they soon start replacing you with younger blood, is why fitness, as you age, is so very important to your survival.

I complain a lot about this job, or just trucking in general, but it'll be hard for me to quit a job where only have to work 3 days a week, it just makes you lazy after a while, or maybe not lazy, but it makes you value your off time.
Other jobs you don't have time to do anything on the side, or have to request days off, ect, why? You're like a slave, a poorly paid slave.
I could never go back to a 5 day a week job, hell no, unless in love with someone, or had a family and a reason to do so, but even then would rather work 4 long days, and have 3 days off.

Now days, actually for the last few decades, more and more women are getting into trucking Trucking can be a lot of things, as with any job or career....or trucking can be like a bad marriage also... www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/trucking-can-be-like-a-bad-marriage.68681/That was actually 'me', in that 'trucking can be like a bad marriage', thread, on the Truckers report, years and years ago. But that aside, life is about growing and exploring. But ye, trucking can be like a bad marriage, just depends on where your heart and soul is at the time. But like with anything, you need to grow, and just like if your spouse doesn't grow with you, then you tend to drift apart. Not that trucking hasn't grown and changed, but often times those new changes has diminished the value of the trucker more and more into nothing more than mindless labor. But again, trucking covers a very broad area of jobs. 1. Over the road trucking, sleeper trucks, truck stops, ect 2. Local container type of trucking, in and out of the ports 3. Class B type of trucking, as in dump trucks, cement trucks, local stuff, where in and out of shop daily. 4. Oversized load type of trucking. 5. Flatbed, step deck, tankers. And I could go on, the main thing is to find your niche, and or some even go on to create their own trucking companies, where they're known as 'Owner operators'. Or you can 'lease to own' your own truck (Do not do that, lol) Bottom line, whichever type of trucking you decide on, your mind and heart has to be into it, like with anything else. Also, there's the whole admin side of logistics, like freight broker, freight handler, dispatcher, terminal manager, ect, even Warehouse careers. The demand for freight is only growing, so either path you chose you'll do OK at and or even prosper, just remember, always continue to educate yourself along the way, cause as you get older, the more career options you have, the more you'll thank yourself.

Everything about trucking just makes me feel smaller and more humiliated as I age. They're always bringing in people younger than you to be compliance officer, ect, while disregarding your decades of experience....it's an insult, and is why I want to switch over to the brokering side of logistics.
Tired of being treated like a fool behind the wheel, who needs guidance from those who've never driven.

I just need to get out of the physical side of trucking. I'm just getting to old and tired of always having to run or work such long days, to bring home a check, it's just not fun or challenging to me anymore, and not healthy.
I'll do a bit more homework tomorrow, to make sure there's not something else I can get into, on the computer side, other than logistics. I don't need to be rich, heck I'm not rich now, I just need to get into a industry where you're treated like you have a brain...and where I can come home after work, or if working from home, and feel like I did something that mattered to me.

Anyways, I done got myself all worked up, and I'm off for a few more days. All it takes is reading one stupid text, and it'll do it, is why I totally try to ignore the phone or texts, from anything or one connected to work, while I'm off.
Cause being off is about resting the mind, as much as it is about resting the body.

I just know I'm in this world alone, and owe no one nothing, not even to pick up the phone, cause no one pays my bills, and if pass away tomorrow no one would be at my funeral, that pretty much sums it up.

Anyways, I'm off, time to put this trucking stuff behind me for a while and instead pretend I'm some Hollywood movie star enjoying my mansion as I sit back and create art and watch a few movies.

There's no legacy building in trucking, you just do your job, get lectured to by arrogant fools, punch out, ect, go home, and when shift done, no memory of it ever again. No relationship building, no banquets held in honor of 'fill in the blank', no hall of fame, no recognition, you're just a janitor basically.
My parents had legacies, worked at major university, built relationships with powerful people, bonds, friendships, ect. What the F has trucking ever given me that could match that?? ZERO!!

Have to head off to work here soon. I hear 'Yellow Freight' is going out of business.
These new younger egotistical managers don't know how to manage anything, all they do is run company after company in the ground that they're in charge of. Instead of companies promoting drivers, who understand the business from the ground up, instead they hire paper qualified types with no common or ground sense, and who never listen to the floor people, as a result Yellow freight is the latest casualty of this.
Anyways, about to go to work, maybe I'll buy a lotto ticket today.
