Finally off for a few days
Finally off for a few days
Ye, and what? Years ago I'd be happy right now, jubilant, now...now?...I just don't know.
That's probably my 'just got off from working a long day mood speaking'..
But for real, it's not like I have a date or love waiting to greet me when I get in.
Trucking is a lonely profession, and the more automated warehouses get, the lonelier trucking becomes.
Where I work, at least when you checked in at the 'centers', you got to interact with cool personalities, but now they've all been replaced with remote workers who talk to you from a speaker box.
I mean if work is the only place you interact with people, well then, they've just taken away from me my social life, cause outside of work, other than scribbling stuff online, I just don't interact with people at all.
All the cool neighbors I use to know, they've all left, and these new types, they're not social at all...so reflective of today's inverted new breed, social media bred generation.....none of whom have personalities anymore.
What a life, or lack of...woh is me.

There's something in the interior of the truck that gives me muscle aches The interior of vehicles can be toxic to some people, even the seatbelts, which they love for us to strap next to our bodies, can be laced with 'Nickel', and other toxic dye's, which could be why some people get cancer, or even breast cancer since the belt goes right across most women's breast area. All I know is when i'm in this Freightliner truck, I never feel right until I'm out of the truck. Do your own research...or listen to this for starters, a Podcast about toxins inside of vehicles... www.spreaker.com/episode/52167260

Also, no matter how much I eat, while on the road, when I come home, my body always feels starved
And the reason for that, I suspect, is that the food 'out there', just lacks nutrition...
I'm pretty sure that's it.
OTR food, truck stop food, is designed to make you feel full, but not to make you healthy.
Truck stops use to always have normal sit down and order from a menu type of restaurant attached to them, but that's pretty much gone now, now it's fast food, or shelf food...none of which is good for you long term

Work today, feels like spiritual death to me. That's what happens when you stop loving what you do or the over all environment.
I work for a pay check and that's it, at this stage of my life.

Keeping moral up as a driver, can be hard these days, fitness and side hobbies are key, and love and support from your friends and family, if so blessed to have them

About to begin my work day, have mercy on my soul About to begin my work day, please have mercy on my soul.. It's not so bad once you actually get there, it's the build up to going back to work, after having a few days off, is what's so tense filled. Like the Sunday before a Monday. Anyways, time to get up and out there and babysit cars (4-wheelers) all day.

One thing I don't miss about OTR driving, that is when you driver over the road, and live inside of truck for weeks, sometimes months, is I don't miss having to daily, use public restrooms, either at truck stops or rest areas.
That's just so inconvenient, for many reasons. For one, you don't always feel social, just like when you're home, when home in your house or apartment, you don't feel like getting dressed at 6 am in the morning, or late at night, just to go to the bathroom. But when at a truck stop or rest area, when you head to the bathroom, there's other people, and so you have to be presentable, and if not, you feel eyeballs on you.
Most drivers take leaks next to their trucks, rather than strolling quarter mile to use bathroom inside of TA or pilot or loves, ect.
Truck stop parking lots can be massive, and if parked in the very back, that's quite a walk just to take leak, not to mention if it's cold out or raining, or extremly hot.
I'm just glad I don't do that anymore, and if did, would have to be compensated a whole lot of money this time, to endure those indignities.

Just got in...wow. I mean you wake up at 6am or so, then get back at around 9ish, or so, very long day...and it gets no easier as you age, is why staying fit is so important. I'm a Navy vet, but I've never utilized the VA, just haven't, but maybe sooner than later, I should probably register with that place cause good health doesn't last forever, that's for sure.

I've never taken unemployment before, cause I've always left jobs on my own.
But this time, well. In that was notified that my 'smart drive score', needs to come down...well I don't have time for the back story, but I basically responded by saying 'smart drive isn't my god'.
Long story short, in same text was told have 2 weeks to get score down, and that's, I guess, when I kind of snapped....2 weeks are what?, I thought to self. 2 weeks and I'm free from a job I no longer enjoy? Cool, but like a former manager/co-worker of mine did once, he waited to be fired to get unemployment.
This guy was W and way younger than me, but totally new how to play the system, well I'm not trying to play any system, but at my age, hell, why not receive some unemployment instead of rushing back to work??
I'm 50+, why do I need to still hustle so much when our nation keeps sending Ukraine billions of dollars, probably near a trillian by now, so that overseas people can get rich. Sorry, it doesn't cost that much to fund a war, we've spent more on Ukraine in 2 years or one year, than 20 years in Afghanistan, can you say money laundering?
It's sickening, and that's just one example, so heck, why should I feel guilty about taking a few small checks a month, when my money has been getting raided my whole entire life by the government.
Anyhow, we shall see.

I like this job only cause I get so many days off in a row, but when do work, I hate it, hate the long shifts, the hollow environment, the lonliness of the job. Hate the feeling of always being watched, with camera in the truck, and always treated by ______, like you're some rookie, and that they always 'know what's best'. No, I know what's best for me. And these large companies always treat you like 3rd world material, and maybe that's just the corporate mindset, but I'm to old for that crap. With age, most want a bit more respect and acknowledgment that you've done something. And if a company is not paying me prosperity type of income, why the f should I feel loyal to them? I should be loyal to be treated like a hard working dunce every day?
I think younger people got it right finally, by refusing to work any ole job like us old timers were brought up to do. Working hard or steady all my life and following the rules has got me where? I'm no better off now, fiscally, than when first got out of high school, when adjust for inflation.

Heading off to work now, just another long meaningless day to me. I need a job that has meaning to me, of course, but that's easier said than done.
