I'm having the hardest time writing a screenplay synopsis.
Not sure why, so will just let thoughts flow...that usually helps...begin.
------------------------------
act 1
This is a movie about two souls who on the surface appear to be radically different from one another, but underneath they both struggle with loneliness, and the need to fit in and belong.
They're both wearing masks, but in their own ways, and by doing so they're both existing in worlds they ought not probably be in. They both, however, kind of feel trapped.
One feels trapped in a traditionalist type of world, a 9-5 world, where you're expected to comply with traditional social norms. And another feels trapped in a world of deceit, treachery and uncertainty.
Both secretly seek a way out of their perspective worlds....if only someone had the key or keys, to free them.
What if Kate has the keys to free Lance, and Lance has the keys to free Kate?
Is why the term 'odd couple' or couples was deemed.
Sometimes the person who holds the key to your freedom isn't the person you'd initially expect.
--------------------------
act 2
Also though, once freed from our cages, there are those others who would like to corral us back into the cage we stepped out and way from. Jim, Lances neighbor, is one such individual. But the ironic thing is, is that they to are stuck in a cage.
But being in cages, or a 'box', is a easy way for us to define not only ourselves, but others.
Some of us, maybe, are afraid of what we'd really become, if released from the cage or box we or others have created for ourselves.
What happens when Lance, Kate, and Jim, are all freed from their perspective cages, boxes, all at once?
Everyone seems tame, while confined to their box or cage, but when free, then what?
-------------------------------
act 3
In the end, free people make others also yearn and want to be free.
And in the end, Lance and Kate learn to accept one another outside the box both they, and society created for the both of them. And now that both are free, have freed each other from the boxes, cages they were in, what will become of their relationship.
