This may sound very weird, but it's true.
But I think actually if I felt loved and all, I'd be more likely, have been more likely in the past, to take my own life.
I read once also that the more loved one felt or feels while going through hardship, the more likely they are to commit suicide, why is that?
Can only speculate, but I think when feel loved or are loved or in loving relationship, there's a sense of closer, or that things will be alright, or sense of sacrifice for the better of the other.
Or better yet a sense of justification.
Example 'I'll take my own life so that 'they' may have a better future', ect.
And or even a 'I'll show them' type of reasoning.
But when unloved, and or don't love anyone, than taking own life is kind of a senseless act because absolutely no one else is effected, and or if have enemies or feel others don't like you, including family, you feel as if you're handing them a victory, giving them yet another thing to whisper about.
'See, I told you they were unbalanced' and so forth.
If, when, people don't like you, killing yourself isn't going to make them change their mind, they'll just be glad you're gone.
And I think it's that thought that is why many who are alone, feel alone, don't feel loved, just hang on.
Proof of this is you see many who are desolate out on the streets, yet they hang on, homeless people rarely commit suicide, instead it's always the person in a family relationship who does, or the person with lots of friends, who does, but it's rarely the social outcast or misfit who does.
Because there's no one to react to your demise.
I've also read where suicide, by some or many, is often a act of revenge against those 'they' think do love them, regardless, it's all related to being in a relationship with someone you think loves you, but if unloved, again, there's no one to react to your death, and is why I think the less loved one feels, or even if one feels hated, the LESS likely they are to commit suicide, cause then you feel as if just handing your distractors a victory.
Sounds weird, but I do think it's true.
