Rent and apartment living What does your age and rent both have in common? They both seem to increase with time. Made that one up right on the spot. Anyways... Let's begin this discussion about rent and apartment living as one ages and for those over the age of 50.

Two things will assure that rent goes up
1. When Ownership is brought out by another 'Investment Real Estate group'.
2. When more working class, younger 'W' people move into apartment or area.
Now addressing number 2 is not the fault of young white working folks, but seems whenever they start moving back into an area it's like a green light for Landlords, and others to raise the rent.
Not sure why they assume that just because one is 'white' that some how they want to pay more in rent, or can even afford to, but it's a perception thing I suppose, when more 'whites' move back into an area, those who control rent and or property values 'assume' that these white people moving back in have more money to spend, really?
It's kind of a compliment and an insult at the same time.
This idea that because one is 'white' they don't mind giving more of their hard earned money away?..hmm
I don't think that's true, in that many 'whites' are being forced economically to move back to areas closer to the city not cause they're making more money, but because they're making less money..duh
But that truth doesn't matter, people who control rent, when they see more 'whites' moving back into an area they just raise the rent, apartment rents go up and housing rentals go up, everything just goes up in price.
So then long time residence of place have to either move out or get a second job or find a roommate.
Hell, when I first moved to this area there were hardly no working class 'whites', they were afraid of this area and rent was very low and affordable, but year after year after year, rent has been going up, and low and behold, more 'whites' are moving in..hmm
Not only that but if live in a 'Red State', everyone and their Mother and dogs and cats are fleeing from blue states and as such it becomes a supply and demand market, the less units, the higher those units will rent or sell for.
Growing old, and thinking about it, can be scary if living check to check, knowing one day won't be able to work do to health, injury, or ect, and then seeing how 'greed' doesn't care a squat about 'you', and that rent will keep going up no matter what, no matter your age, rent will just keep going up, but one day won't be able to work, so now what?
Well the smart ones spent their lives saving and investing and listening to those boring 'money guys' on the radio talk about port folios and 401 k's, but a lot of people didn't bother saving, figured we'd hit the jackpot or inherit a bunch of money, or get lucking in business or something, but in the end nothing, other than still having to work like did when 19.
Getting old in America when broke is just not a fun thing to think about, and is why most do not and simply live for 'today' and let tomorrow take care of itself.

Rent is evil. Rent keeps going up. No wonder people can't retire anymore.
The destruction of this society has seemingly begun in many places.

Some homeless people live smarter, not harder
Some homeless people choose to live smarter, not harder. Although, in reality, being homeless isn't as easy as some may think, it can be quite the hustle actually, especially at night when trying to find a safe clean place to sleep.
But it's amazing that on the streets of America, you have people basically living 3rd world, or even less, type of lives, in tents, their dirty, no hygeine, many people in the 3rd world actually live better than that.
