General employment issues for those over 50

I know one thing, with me, I've pretty much lost all love for 'work' just for work sake.

I think when older, at least for me, work stops being fun, or a window to better things when there's no more 'romance' in the work place, but instead other dull over the hill types.

There's a lot of variables here of course, I mean blue collar work much different than corporate work, field work different than office work and so forth.

And depends on who and or what you're working for.
A lot of factors at play here.

Some people love going to work no matter how old, but people like that usually have meaningful jobs where they feel they're making a difference.

I think it's really about the kinds of relationships you have or form while at work, that will effect ones attitude towards their job.

Anyways, time to get ready for work, yuk...much more to follow as time allows.

Not really an employment issue, but do notice now that I work less days per week, I seem to be actually saving more and spending less.

Cause I've realized a few years ago that just getting up and 'out there' daily costs money and can be a drain after a while.

Getting up to go to work is an event, just like getting off work is, it's an event, and it takes time, energy and money, so if can do that event 3 days a week instead of 5-6 days a week, just that alone saves a ton of personal energy and stress and gas and wear and tear on vehicle and lessens the odds of getting in a wreck.

And with me anyways, when home I really don't spend money.

Add all that up and even though I'm out there less, I'm saving way more money, pay checks add to my checking account now in positive way, where as for so many years before seems I'd work all year yet couldn't save a dime.

Oh the things you learn when you're older that you wish you'd of known when younger or had another pound it into your head.

Yes, people over the age of 50 still have to work and toil

This idea that you stop working over the age of 50, what a crock.

That being said, amazing how at end of my long shift, I feel so 'spent', drained, so grey, as if all my energy is gone...but then when leaving place, in car driving home, energy begins to come back...then when get home, more energy suddenly there...then after being home for around 30 minutes, feel like a new 'being'...literally.

What does that tell me?

It tells me the 'mind' is a powerful thing..think about that.

Sometimes have to just resign or quit a job in order to force self to move on

Yes, sometimes one has to just resign or quit a job in order to force self to move on and find something better to self.

And better to 'self' doesn't always mean more money right away, better to self can be the following

1. A job with more cheer, cheer = higher moral, higher moral = more energy, enthusiasm, happiness, health ect

2. Better location, maybe current job has you stuck living in a community you don't fit into, or has you commuting 1 hour to work, that's a minimum
of 2 hours of your useful day spent in traffic, why?

3. A job with a better social interaction, this matters if single, and or if a male, maybe you need a job where are working around younger females, and not just older grungy post sexual balding males.

4. A job that offers training, upward mobility?

And so on.

Pay isn't everything, and I think more and more people are realizing that and is why more and more are becoming picky about where they work.

When older, working just to work, has less meaning than it did when in teens, and learning the ropes of life and discipline, I mean when or if over the age of 50, if made it that far, still alive, still healthy, obviously you exercised a level of discipline in your life or wouldn't still be around.

But what happens is often we, including myself, become so accustomed to that predictable weekly pay check that willing to tolerate all the other stuff that's out of place in our life and preventing us from actually being happy and socially thriving.

I mean if live in a hood type area, where crime is high, ect, not going to be much socializing with neighbors when off work, on the other hand if maybe live near the beach, or any area where residents are employed, no section this or section that type of housing, there's a better chance that any random person in that community will be about 'something', other than street crap.

Point is, whatever your thing is, maybe you like the ghetto, than make changes to live there if currently not.

But again, with myself, I've gotten lulled into this complacency, where I've fallen into this deadening routine of work, home, pay check, next thing you know another whole year has gone by, and a tad bit less health as well as we age.

In the past, when younger, more bold and confident, I'd just quit a job if that job stopped serving me, I mean the idea of working just to work never made sense to me back then, still does not, only now I'm older, less risky, less bold, and that worries me, cause I don't want this current situation to become my grave.

I'm so sick of fkn working man, it's just gross to me.

Pointless, civilized slavery is all it is.

Just in a straight up mood to just quit my job right now, that's how much I hate it

I like the people I work for, it's not their fault I'm just sick as hell of what I do, which is driving.
I hate the job now, I hate the long hours of isolation, being alone, sitting, and then arriving to a place where everyone is dead and lacks personality.
I absolutely hate it, and as I get older, I'm tired of doing anything I hate, cause lifes to short to spend it in misery.

Sick of the whole transportation industry, and how people who have driven forever are treated like amature rank types, who still have to watch stupid azz training videos written by m/f's who've never driven a day in their life.

I hate what I do now, and it's coming to a head.

Sometimes you just got to straight up quit a job, before you'll be motivated to find another one that better suited for you.
